BUTTERFLIES WEDDING CAKE

I made a 3 tier lemon and raspberry filling cake.  It was a four layer cake and about 4 inches high.  The challenge to always making cakes with fruity fillings is to ensure that you don't overdue spreading it out in between the cakes as too much of the filling can make the cake slide.  I also had to order the topper from Russia as they didn't have this style here.  I wanted the butterflies to have a realistic appearance so I searched high and low at various craft stores.  The colours were beautiful.

GUITAR CAKE

This order was for a very special lady who wanted to celebrate her birthday and honour the memory of her dog.  She requested for a red guitar with her dog's name who died earlier in the year.  She really misses her as she has had her for a very long time.  This cake was coloured red as that is her favourite colour.  The flavour she requested was lemon raspberry which is definitely one of my favourites!  The cake was a joy to make as this was my first time making a guitar cake.

DOCTOR'S TOOLS COOKIES

Looks like there is a promising career for a little girl's birthday party!  She had a doctor's theme party so cookies with a variety of doctor equipment was requested.  It was a lot of work as I had to colour the fondant purple, pink, and brown.  Each tool had its own time as the decor definitely was time consuming.  There was no need to package each cookie.  However, at the end it did turn out beautiful.

THANK YOU COOKIES

I made shortbread cookies that said "Thank You" on them.  I used royal icing as the background and cutout fondant letters for the words.  Although the details were pretty time consuming, it turned out pretty nice!  My only concern was being able to fit in the word "Thank" on the cookie as well as thinking about how I would arrange the words.

WEIGHTS CAKE

This cake was to be a surprise for a very lucky lady!  Her husband wanted to celebrate his wife's 40th birthday and make it extra special for her.  He was very organized and detailed in how he wanted the cake made.  He requested for carrot and red velvet cake which were probably his wife's favourite flavours.  This cake did pose some challenges such as making the top tier overhang above the bottom tier.  I had to make sure the top tier would not topple over.  Also, I had to find a way to to cover up the straw support I used for the overhang.

MARIO BROTHERS CAKE

Mario Brothers was my ALL TIME favourite video game from my childhood days!  I remember playing it over and over and over again.  Sometimes all through the night, so when I was asked to do a Mario Cake, I was ecstatic!  It was definitely a lot of work as I had to precolour fondant a variety of different colours.  I also had to make each individual character which was time consuming.  But either way, I definitely enjoyed making this cake!

VOLLEYBALL CAKE

One day this young lady who has kindly requested for a volleyball cake will be in the Olympics or playing in a BIG TIME beach volleyball tournament!  She has trained pretty much all her life and has earned an athletic scholarship in the States.  She loves volleyball and dreams to be a professional player some day.  So the cake I made for her is one of the edible starts to a promising career!
