First Communion Cake

I was asked to make a two tier First Communion cake for a sweet little girl.  Her mom wanted it to be extra special by having a big celebration.  The mother had given me a precious moments figurine that she wanted on top of the cake so that her daughter could have a souvenir of her first communion.  The challenge to this cake was creating the diamond patterns as I had to ensure that each diamond looked even.  If I made one mistake, there was no turning back as there was no way to erase the imprint on the fondant.  Unless, I replaced the fondant on the cake with a new layer of fondant.  It was a simple but elegant cake that my 9 year old son said, "It looks like a wedding cake."
